The other day Yaron (5 years) returned home from the school and he said, “Papa!! now I know where did we come from, today we had a class on pre-history and my teacher told us that human beings are product of the process of evolution.”
Vane and I tried to explain him how God is a creator, and then Yaron replied, “but papa you should buy the book my teacher has, it tells the truth.” We could explain Yaron the truth of creation and of the theory of evolution. And we know that we will have to continuously work on this.
I didn’t expect our 5 years old son to have class on evolution and the teacher would tell him that the Bible if just a legend. Then in the city pastor’s meeting, pastors shared the concern about how Christian youth are leaving the churches because we as church have failed to address their questions on creation and evolution.
While in church and Sunday school we teach our children about faith, eternal life and from the parables of the New Testament. In the school our 4-12 year old are being taught about evolution as truth and gender identity (that they can decide their gender upon ones feelings), etc. Because of this, many of our youth feel unprepared to face those arguments and assault on the foundation of their faith and finally turn away from their faith in the Bible and in God.
This is why we have a heavy burden for our children’s education and we want to develop material that would serve as a tool and that would prepare and equip them in the development of their values and beliefs. For this reason, we are looking in to preparing material for Sunday Schools about Creation and how to question Evolution. In addition, the next Science and Faith conference we want to hold will focused on Sunday school teachers and Christian parents.
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
