God has laid on our heart to serve the poor and the needy. This is priaray part of our calling for me and Vanesa. So this summer we started volunteering at the Center for the homeless people in our town as a part of our Voice for the Voiceless DTS. We realized that we could meet people from different nations here, including Spaniards.
Many have prejudice when we see a homeless, but when we take time to show “we really care” we will know that “there is lot of brokeness out their on the streets” Our prejudices will go and it will be replaced by Compassion.

Today during an outreach to the Day Shelter for the homeless I met Lesan, form Berber tribe, an indigenous people group of North Africa. Talking to him I realized that Lesan is a learned person, well-informed about cultures, religions and politics of the world.

Then I discovered Lesan is very broken inside because of the family issues, it seems to me that his excitement, hope and strength to fight for himself is damaged. He is wounded but not bitter about “others”. We spoke about God, prayers and miracles.

The prayer makes sense only in Biblical Christian faith, because here we have a God who not only is able but also loves to intervene in the natural world. This God rules over laws of nature and logic, HE isn’t limited by these laws. Miracle is when supernatural intervention happens in the natural world, surpassing the natural and logical laws.

After a long conversation I asked and Lesan allowed me to pray him, When I finished praying there were tears in his eyes. God had intervened. Lesan said, ” he desires to work and have a place to live”.

Reaching out to people starts with prayer. Take a “payer walk”, keep your eyes open and pray for neighbours and the neighbourhood. Make it a habit, sometime see the name on the letter box outside of the house and pray. Be willing to be an answer to our own intercessory prayers, do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act (Prov 3:27).

Love for God and for people is the basic requirement before going out for evangelism or even starting social work to help people. A regular prayer walks in the neighbourhood, and soon you will realize the growing love and compassion for the people, for the town, the city, and for other nations. We are developing the mind of Christ for the neighborhood and for the nations.

God “SO” loved the world, and looking for someone to stand in the gap for people (Isaiah 59:16), HE found none and gave HIS own son, so that none shall perish but everyone to know God.
