“I’ve done so many bad things and carried that burden for so long. But now I feel lighter—the burden is gone, I’m forgiven,” Mike* said, tears streaming down his face.
Jitu replied, “God’s eyes were on you and your family, and it’s my privilege to be part of this journey.” But Mike responded, “It had to be through you—an immigrant.”
Mike, a former professional boxer and proud Spaniard, was once deeply involved in a Neo-Nazi group. Inspired by the “superiority” ideology, he often targeted immigrants and gypsies. He insulted them and often acted violently against them. But due to health issues, he and his family moved to our neighborhood, sharing an apartment with his mother.
How a Simple Baby Bed Changed Everything
Because of our ministry to the poor, homeless, and immigrants, people often donate items. They give us these items to pass on to those in need. One day, we received a baby bed. After checking with a few families, no one needed it, so Jitu posted it on a local Facebook group.
Mike’s wife, Bea*, was the first to respond. When she and Mike came to pick up the bed, they shared about their struggles. Vanesa invited them to our community center, Association 100% Vida, where we offer food, kids’ activities, and fitness classes. Their family quickly became part of our outreach—receiving food, their kids joining our after-school programs, and Bea attending fitness classes.
More Than Food—A Place to Be Heard
During food distribution, we have a welcome table with snacks and refreshments, where we share, listen, and pray. Mike and Bea began attending, and as they opened up, others followed. God moved powerfully—people found jobs, received healing, secured housing, and even saw breakthroughs in legal processes.
Mike and Bea not only witnessed these miracles but experienced them firsthand. When we invited them to our Alpha Course, they came. Today, their entire family has given their lives to Jesus. They are now eager to grow in their faith and take the next step!
This is just one of many stories of transformation happening through this ministry. God is changing lives—one small act of love at a time.
